K 2010
Beckhoff is showing its PC- and EtherCAT-based control solutions for plastic machines at K 2010 in Düsseldorf, Germany. With PC-based control technology, Beckhoff offers an open and flexible automation solution for all fields of plastics processing such as injection molding and blow molding machines, as well as extrusion systems.
Beckhoff offers tried-and-tested control solutions for the processing of plastics on the basis of high-performance PC-based control technology. Controllers from all performance categories will be exhibited – from simple applications up to complex, highly effi cient machines.
At K 2010 Beckhoff will present a 12-inch Panel PC with technology components for injection molding applications. The Beckhoff injection molding solution is suitable both for simple hydraulically driven injection molding machines and for servo-electrical or hybrid machine concepts.
Beckhoff also developed a new compact and cost-effective control solution for blow molding machines based on Intel® Atom™ processors. It consists of a 6.5-inch Panel PC and technology software for blow molding machines, including visualisation.

Maximum performance with EtherCAT
A fast bus system with short reaction times for tough real-time requirements is available in EtherCAT. All necessary process signals can be integrated simply and inexpensively into the controller via the Beckhoff I/O systems in protection class IP 20 or IP 67. The compact Safety PLC for TwinSAFE permits the connection of up to 128 safety-relevant bus devices.

Industrial PC series C69xx
The C69xx control cabinet PC series is extremely compact and has a robust aluminium housing: from the C6915 with Intel® Atom™ up to the C6930 with Intel® Core™2 Duo.  C69xx
CX5000: Embedded PC with Atom drive
Beckhoff brings PC technology and modular I/O level as a single unit into the control cabinet with the Embedded PCs for central and local control tasks, e.g. with the new compact CX5000 with Intel® Atom™ processor.  CX5000
EtherCAT drives up to 120 kW
To increase the energy efficiency of injection molding and blow molding machines there is a trend towards using servo-electric drives instead of hydraulic components. This is the first time that Beckhoff will show the complete range of its Servo Drive series AX5100 up to 170 A at a plastic industry fair.

PC-based Control for plastic machines
Plastic framework
Beckhoff supplies a software framework for plastic machines based on the TwinCAT engineering tool. Thanks to the open architecture and modular structure, the development time is shortened and complex machine concepts are supported. However, customer-specific know-how can also be combined easily with the tried-and-tested Beckhoff technology modules. The TwinCAT-based framework is optimally supplemented by process-specific user interfaces for injection molding and blow molding machines. Beckhoff shows how the modules work by way of practical examples at demonstration stations.
Motion Control
Using the proven Motion Control software from Beckhoff, complex movement sequences of handling systems for plastic machines can also be implemented quickly and safely. A 3-axis robot with delta kinematics will be exhibited as a technology example. EtherCAT is the ideal fi eldbus for deterministic synchronisation with the machine.  Drive Technology
